Mang'oni mu Iziraela
(1 Bomambo 15:17-22)
1 Nge gole le bumakumi matatu lina tathatu (36) le mbuso wa Asa, Bhaasha mambo we Iziraela kanonginilila Juda ngono kabaka Rama kuti ndizo kusibe ne unobhuda kene unongina kuna Asa mambo we Juda. 2 Ipapo Asa katola siliva ne golide mu matula e Ng'umba ya Yahwe ne mu ng'umba ya mambo kazwiyisa kuna Bhenihadadi mambo we Siriya wakabe egala ku Damasiko eti, 3 “Ngakube nge tjidumano pakati kwangu nawe koga sekwa kwakabe kuli iko pakati kwa tate bangu na tate babo. Ndakutumilila siliva ne golide. Ndizo ngwenu kolomola tjidumano tjitjo na Bhaasha mambo we Iziraela ngono ndizo aduse babhayani babe mu ntuthu wangu.”
4 Bhenihadadi kateedza Asa ngono katumila balauli be babhayani babe kuti banonginilila mizi mikulu ye Iziraela. Bakakunda mizi ye Ijoni ne Dani ne Abele Maimu ne mizi mikulu ye mabiganyilo ye Nafutali. 5 Ngono kwakati Bhaasha ehwa kuti kwashingikalani kamisa baka nzi we Rama kaletjedza nshingo uwe ukama. 6 Mambo Asa kakubunganya bathu be Juda bose kuti basenge mabgwe ne mapango e Rama nzi wakabe ubakiwa ndi Bhaasha ngono bakanoshingisa ku matizhilo e Geba ne Mizipha.
Nlebesambeli Hanani
7 Mu tjibaka itjetjo Hanani we nlebesambeli kayenda kuna Asa mambo we Juda ngono kaswika kandwa kati, “Ngoti wakabe wakabiga muna mambo we Siriya ngono ukasigalebgwe Yahwe Ndzimu uwo ndizo ngwenu babhayani ba mambo we Siriya bakupudzumuka. 8 Apa Baitopiya ne Balibhiya bakabe basina mibunga ye babhayani ne koloyi dze ngwa ne bataswi be mbizi banji kene? Koga kwakabe kuti ha ubiga muna Yahwe, bakabalonga mu maboko awo. 9 Ngoti Yahwe banotjengeta shango yose kulakidza simba labo muna ibabo bakabiga mubali. Iwe wathama bulengwe ngono kudwa nasi unowogala mu ngwa.” 10 Ikoko kukathama kuti Asa azhalile nlebesambeli bushongola ngono kansunga nge ketani kanlonga mu ng'umba ye busungwa. Asa katangisa tjose kubhata bamwe bathu nge bukukutu.

11 Mishingo ya Asa kudwa mu kutangisa kunoti ye bupelo yakakwagwa mu Thawu dza Bomambo be Juda ne Iziraela. 12 Mu gole le bumakumi matatu ana zhanalume (39) le mbuso wa Asa, Asa katangisa kagwadziwa nge makumbo ngono bugwele gugwe gukakulila mbeli ngono ne mu tjibaka tje gwala kukwe azoshandukila kuna Yahwe ngono wakabe eshaka bhatsho ye dzi ng'anga. 13 Ngono Asa kafa, wakafa mu gole le bumakumi manna ana ling'ompela (41) lekubusa kukwe. 14 Bakanombiganya mu ikumbu tjaakabe azwikobolela itjo mu nzi nkulu wa Dafite, bakashingisa zwipayisi ne mafuta anonuhwa zwinozipa ngono bakabesa moto nkulukulu ili kunteta.
Troubles with Israel
(1 Kings 15.17-22)
1 In the thirty-sixth year of the reign of King Asa of Judah, King Baasha of Israel invaded Judah and started to fortify Ramah in order to cut off all traffic in and out of Judah. 2 So Asa took silver and gold from the treasuries of the Temple and the palace and sent it to Damascus, to King Benhadad of Syria, with this message: 3 “Let us be allies, as our fathers were. This silver and gold is a present for you. Now break your alliance with King Baasha of Israel so that he will have to pull his troops out of my territory.”
4 Benhadad agreed to Asa's proposal and sent his commanding officers and their armies to attack the cities of Israel. They captured Ijon, Dan, Abel Beth Maacah, and all the cities of Naphtali where supplies were stored. 5 When King Baasha heard what was happening, he stopped fortifying Ramah and abandoned the work. 6 Then King Asa gathered men from throughout Judah and had them carry off the stones and timbers that Baasha had been using at Ramah, and they used them to fortify the cities of Geba and Mizpah.
The Prophet Hanani
7 At that time the prophet Hanani went to King Asa and said, “Because you relied on the king of Syria instead of relying on the Lord your God, the army of the king of Israel has escaped from you. 8 Didn't the Ethiopians and the Libyans have large armies with many chariots and cavalry troops? But because you relied on the Lord, he gave you victory over them. 9 The Lord keeps close watch over the whole world, to give strength to those whose hearts are loyal to him. You have acted foolishly, and so from now on you will always be at war.” 10 This made Asa so angry with the prophet that he had him put in chains. It was at this same time that Asa began treating some of the people cruelly.
The End of Asa's Reign
(1 Kings 15.231 24)
11 All the events of Asa's reign from beginning to end are recorded in The History of the Kings of Judah and Israel. 12 In the thirty-ninth year that Asa was king, he was crippled by a severe foot disease; but even then he did not turn to the Lord for help, but to doctors. 13 Two years later he died 14 and was buried in the rock tomb which he had carved out for himself in David's City. They used spices and perfumed oils to prepare his body for burial, and they built a huge bonfire to mourn his death.
